Congrats to Team USA Swimming in the Olympics! The guys and the girls were pretty awesome, and even better, they looked like they had a fun time, too. Woo-hoo!

My first carrot!

I pulled a 10 inch carrot, it broke but I was able to dig up the rest. The eggplant came from my late eggplant plant that grew on its own after last year's attempt shriveled and died. Bonus!

I still have my #7 jerseys, but I won't wear them until Pooton Manning is a former Bronco and I can forget about your bad behavior after retiring from the game. I liked you a whole lot more while you were on the field. You are in a major time-out in my world, John Elway. Bad John Elway.

So, I would like to announce that my long-time #2 team, the New York Giants, have been bumped up to #1 for the duration of... him who induces a bit of vomit in my throat when seeing his name of photo. GROSS! Somehow, though. I'm fine with his brother, Eli Manning. He's kind of just there. Inoffensive. Also, I just like the Giants.

So after the bad news, I promptly bought a NY Giants coffee mug and some NY Giants t-shirts. Doesn't hurt that they're the reigning NFL champions, either.

It's Garden Time!

Darren made a wooden frame for a veggie planter, and on Saturday, 3 March 2012, we put it in the yard and filled it with soil and compost from Whitter Fertilizer. On Sunday, March 4, I planted snow peas, shelling peas, and asparagus in the veggie patch, and sowed some other seeds in my little seed starter indoor greenhouse thingy from last year: Tomatoes, carrots, leeks, jalapenos, spaghetti squash and buttercup squash. I plan to plant some cucumber and green onion seeds in the patch by the weekend, along with a few poppies and/or sunflowers. I'm hungry!
